Total Energies has commissioned its first electric vehicle charging unit at the liberation road station to meet the demands of electric vehicles in Accra, Ghana. The 22 kW charging station will allow a total charge time of about 2 hours.
In his address, Mr. Olufemi Babajide, the Managing Director of Total Energies Marketing in Ghana, said that the station aims to contribute towards reducing carbon footprint and meeting the vision of net zero by 2050. He added that to improve customer experience, the company was providing free secure access to the internet at its stations.
According to a representative of the ministry of energy, Mr. Solomon, the charging station initiative of Total Energies was a step in the right direction, given that the statistics have shown over 1,000 electric vehicles in Ghana. Mr. Jean Phillippe Torres, the senior vice president at Total Energies marketing and services, Africa, said that the company is focused on supporting the development of charging stations in other African countries looking to transition to electric mobility. He further stated that the company aims to be a world-class player in the energy transition by supporting carbon neutrality.
