EM-ONE, an engineering and technology firm advancing the sustainable energy transition in Africa on Monday, signed a contract with the Rural Electrification Agency to deliver affordable, reliable and sustainable power to the University of Abuja, Nigeria, under the second phase of the World Bank sponsored Energizing Education project.
The company will design and build an advanced 3.1MWp PV and 2.03MWh storage microgrid project to provide access to affordable, reliable and sustainable energy for 14,000 students at the University. The project is expected to be completed by December 2023. The Managing Director of REA, Ahmad Salihijo, said: “We are delighted to be working with an innovative expert in EM-ONE Energy Solutions to expand our work in providing affordable, reliable, modern, and renewable power to the University of Abuja through Energizing Education Phase II and we look forward to this partnership and the exciting days ahead.”
Also, the CEO of EM-ONE, Mir, said: “No student should be denied the right to education because of ageing power infrastructure. That is why projects like these are so important. I am thankful to the Rural Electrification Agency for making us their partner of choice for this impactful project in the capital city.” This project aims to advance access to quality education and pique students’ interest in renewable energy career paths. In addition to this project, EM-ONE will set up a world-class electro-mechanical workshop and training centre at the university campus to facilitate this goal.
