Oando Clean Energy Showcases Sustainable Projects at COP27

  • Oando to support Africa’s climate and clean energy development.
  • Oando to partner with public/private institutions for better development

The renewable energy subsidiary of Oando Plc, Oando Clean Energy Limited (OCEL), announced that it would join prominent participants in Africa’s public and business sectors to highlight the continent’s contribution to achieving global goals and building a more sustainable future.

More than 45,000 registered COP27 participants representing Parties, the United Nations (UN), regional non-governmental and intergovernmental organizations, businesses, the scientific community, local communities, as well as civil society will attend the conference, which will be held in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, under the theme “Delivering for People and the Planet,” which began there on November 4th.

OCEL said, “Africa is no stranger to the disproportionate impact of climate change. The continent contributes only three per cent to greenhouse gas emissions but suffers disproportionately from its negative impacts.”

“As Africa’s largest economy and most populous nation, Nigeria will be actively participating in COP27 with President Muhammadu Buhari and the Minister of Environment, Mohammed Abdullahi, amongst other Nigerian stakeholders scheduled to attend.”

OCEL added that it would work with other important stakeholders in the African public and private sectors to promote the continent’s importance in achieving global goals and building a more sustainable future.

In particular, OCEL will facilitate two conversations at the Nigeria Pavilion in collaboration with the federal ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC), the Renewable Energy Association of Nigeria (REAN), and Stratus Consult Limited.

Their first dialogue themed, “Decarbonising an Oil-rich Region: A Case for the Niger Delta, Nigeria’ will hold on  November 10 and the second ‘Achieving Nigeria’s Net Zero Target: A Public-Private Partnership’ will take place on  November 11.
