- Green hydrogen possesses significant potential in Egypt.
- Egyptian government to invest in green hydrogen opportunities providing over 2,500 jobs.
According to Egypt’s prime minister, Mostafa Madbouly, green hydrogen and renewable energy present significant potential.
On the fringes of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27), which Egypt is hosting, the premier made his remarks on Monday at a meeting with his Belgian colleague Alexander De Croo and representatives of a Belgian consortium with expertise in energy and green hydrogen.
Madbouly noted that the government is prepared to offer all types of support to encourage investments in green hydrogen in Egypt and expressed Egypt’s eagerness to utilize the knowledge of the relevant Belgian companies.
They desire to collaborate with Egypt’s electrical, renewable energy, and green hydrogen industries. The initiative is expected to provide more than 2,500 job prospects in addition to many indirect jobs; they noted that they have a feasibility study to develop a hub for creating and storing green hydrogen along the Mediterranean coast.
