Spanish renewable energy reseller and developer Capital Energy announced that two solar projects in the Madrid region with a combined capacity of 205 MW had gotten a favourable environmental report under the accelerated procedure.
The 130 MW La Vega and 75 MW Cruz photovoltaic (PV) projects, which will be situated in the municipalities of Fuenlabrada, Humanes de Madrid, and Parla, will receive investments from the corporation totalling approximately EUR 110 million (USD 109.5 million).
Once operational, La Vega’s 226,000 panels should be able to produce more than 260,000 MWh annually, which will be sufficient to cover the needs of more than 100,000 nearby residents.
With 129,000 panels, the Cruz PV park can generate up to 60,000 homes’ worth of clean electricity annually or more than 150,000 MWh. In addition, over 30 GW worth of wind and solar projects, including more than 8.5 GW with grid access permissions, are included in Capital Energy’s portfolio for the Iberian Peninsula.
