- Xodus announces its plan to design a sizable export-scale green hydrogen project.
- Xodus has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for hydrogen supply VRX Silica Ltd.
Global energy consultancy Xodus announced that it is designing a sizable export-scale green hydrogen project with an anticipated electrolyser capacity of up to 1,000 MW in Western Australia’s Mid-West.
The initiative, called MercurHy, will be built up gradually to give the green hydrogen market enough time to develop and eventually gain from falling electrolyser prices. Phase 1 is supposed to begin with 150 MW, Phase 2 with 500 MW, and Phase 3 with a gigawatt capacity.
According to Xodus managing director Stephen Swindell, the firm has led the project from its infancy and has now attracted partners to achieve joint success. Currently going through the investor engagement stage, Xodus has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for hydrogen supply with pure-play silica sand company VRX Silica Ltd which plans to manufacture solar panels locally to supply national and international demand. In addition, the consultancy has advanced talks with other potential off-takers and says it has the backing of local landowners and the state government.
