- ONEE prepares the National Master Plan for Electric Mobility in Morocco.
- The initiative will enable the development of sustainable transport in the Kingdom of Morocco, where the factories of several car manufacturers are located.
“National Master Plan for Electric Mobility” will be implemented by 2023 in Morocco and will be a new sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative for transportation.
The National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE), which is working on the initiative with the Institut de la Francophonie pour le Développement Durable (IFDD) and the Global Sustainable Energy Partnership, just released the information (GSEP).
The goal is to examine the vehicle fleet, the supply of electric vehicles, the recharging infrastructure, and the stakeholders’ expectations in three stages, according to the sales and marketing director of ONEE.
The transport industry is said to be responsible for 23% of Morocco’s carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. In this context, the Cherifian kingdom promised at the 22nd United Nations Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP27) held in 2016 in Marrakech to accelerate the development of sustainable transport on its territory.
Due to many initiatives, the Tangier-Agadir motorway now has charging stations, tax discounts “concerning the vignette, the luxury tax, and import duties,” and a fleet of electric vehicles for public administrations. The Barid Al Maghrib post office, which just received 225 electric vehicles of the Citroen Ami brand for processing parcels, is a prime example. The Stellaris car group’s facility in Kénitra produces these automobiles.
