- Indian government plans to offer incentives for hydrogen development by May.
- In two years, developers will be forced to start manufacturing.
The Indian government plans to announce a tender in May that will offer incentives for developing environmentally friendly hydrogen production facilities and electrolyzer factories.
The proposal asks to install two hubs to manufacture green hydrogen for use in the steel and fertilizer industries and transportation. Additionally, efforts will be made to build two fertilizer facilities that use green hydrogen and ammonia. The establishment of electrolyzer manufacturing facilities will also receive subsidies.
According to sources, contracts will be given to the winners within a year; in two years, developers will be forced to start manufacturing.
The bids will be evaluated as part of India’s recently approved National Green Hydrogen Mission, which has a $2.39 billion budget. One of the program’s main objectives is to support the development of at least 5 million tonnes of green hydrogen production capacity annually, adding 125 GW of renewable energy by 2030.
