- Bulgarian Parliament approves permits for the elimination of rooftop and residential solar installation.
The Bulgarian Parliament approved on second reading draft legislation eliminating the need to secure construction permits for rooftop and residential solar installations of up to 20 kW when their output is intended for self-consumption.
The MPs eventually approved expanding the proposed renewable energy systems’ capacity from the original 10.8 kW limit for power generation and water heating.
According to Vladislav Panev, the deputy chair of the parliamentary party Democratic Bulgaria (DB), because of red tape, large investors in Bulgaria have historically benefited most from low-cost solar energy.
