The US Agency for International Development (USAID) has invited potential applicants to submit preliminary information on projects to be included in its regional project called Investment in Energy. USAID’s project aims to support technically, commercially, and environmentally sustainable projects and help find investors or financial institutions to fund them. The invitation issued by USAID is to consider potential projects for pre-feasibility and feasibility studies. In contrast, projects for further assessment will be selected through a public call for applications. Initial information will be sent to energyinvestmentDIR@bv.com or energyinvest@bv.com by February 10, 2023.
The regional project Investment in Energy, whose launch in Serbia was marked in October, will focus on improving the bankability of the environmentally friendly production, transmission and distribution of heat and electricity, district heating systems, water supply and sanitation systems, and the energy efficiency of residential and commercial buildings, according to the invitation. USAID has set aside USD 20 million for the project. Projects will be selected in cooperation with international financial institutions, banks, investors, and beneficiaries. The minimum value of a single project is set at USD 10 million. However, projects worth less than USD 10 million could be considered depending on the interest of international financial institutions, according to the invitation.
According to USAID, the support will be provided for projects in Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Georgia, Greenland, Kosovo, Moldova, North Macedonia, and Serbia, and possibly other countries in the region where such projects could benefit the listed beneficiary countries and territories, directly or indirectly.
