Total Eren, a French independent power producer (IPP) with an emphasis on renewable energy, has launched its fourth office in Australia in an effort to increase its local presence there by creating gigawatt-scale green hydrogen projects.
The Paris-based company announced onthat its team of local specialists had found a hydrogen pipeline in Australia with up to 30 GW of potential generation capacity. Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia, and Western Australia are among the states where the projects are spread out.
The company has opened a new office in Perth, Western Australia, and will lead renewable hydrogen initiatives out of this location. The objective of Total Eren is to “play a vital role” in the renewable hydrogen initiative of the Australian state.
The 256-MW Kiamal solar park 1 in Victoria, completed in 2020, is already owned by the French company, which counts TotalEnergies as one of its shareholders. This year, construction will begin on the park’s second phase, a 194-MW park connected to up to 300 MWh of battery storage.
