The Green Investment Group (GIG) of Macquarie has a portfolio firm called Corio Generation, and Qair of France has obtained the right to participate in tenders for 2.5 GW of offshore wind projects in French waters that are expected to be finished by 2032.
The partners announced on Monday that they had established a consortium called Energies du Meridien through which they would take part in the competitive rounds.
The new consortium is one of the finalists that made the French Directorate General for Energy and Climate’s shortlist of contenders for the project tenders for the Atlantic (AO7) and (AO8). The projects will add 1 GW and 1.5 GW of capacity, respectively, and will be situated off Ille d’Oleron and Normandy. They will both make use of fixed-bottom foundation engineering.
Beginning in 2024, funds will be allocated for the two projects. In addition to creating cutting-edge new offshore wind farms, Energies du Meridien plans to invest in regional supply chains and port infrastructure.
Guirec Dufour, general director of Qair France, stated, “We are confident that Energies du Meridien’s competitive offer will contribute a new solid foundation to the rising architecture of a French offshore wind industry.”
