- Luena Solar Energy Project in the eastern Moxico Province will have an expected installed capacity of 26,906 MW.
- Agnelo emphasised that the energy project will help to improve the city’s ability to obtain electricity that various restrictions like thermal plant failure have recently plagued.
According to Wilson Agnelo, the deputy governor for the Technological and Infrastructure sector, the building of the Luena Solar Energy Project in the eastern Moxico Province, which willhave an expected installed capacity of 26,906 MW, is presently 60% complete.
According to Agnelo, the 52-hectare project is being developed by the US firms “Sun Africa” and MCA Angola and Portugal in the Samalesso neighborhood, east of Luena City.
To save 19,515 liters of fuel used in the present thermal power plants, the park of the recognized “clean and inexpensive” energy will have 42,560 solar panels by the time it is completed in two years.
Wilson Agnelo stated to the press that there are assurances that the contractual deadlines will be met given the project’s progress as part of the verification of the operation of the thermal plants placed in Luena.
Agnelo emphasized that the energy project will help to improve the city’s ability to obtain electricity, which has recently been plagued by various restrictions on the amount of electricity available because of the frequent failures of the thermal power plants.
A scheme to construct seven solar photovoltaic plants includes the construction of the solar energy park in provinces including Benguela, Moxico, Lunda Sul, Lunda Norte, Bié, Huambo, and Namibe.
