The majority ownership of a 700 MW collection of solar projects in Colorado has been acquired by the North American division of European Energy A/S of Denmark, advancing the company’s objective to build 10 GW of renewable energy in the US by 2026. Two photovoltaic (PV) projects of the London-based renewable energy platform Horus Energy have received funding from EE North America. With the acquisition—whose price was kept secret—EE North America enters the Colorado market.
A joint venture between EE North America and Horus will be used to realize the two projects, Sandy Hill and Sand Dune. Construction on the two projects is expected to begin in 2025. The capacity will be linked to the Public Service of Colorado (PSCO) network as per the proposal. The deal brings EE North America’s current pipeline of 2.5 GW-capacity solar projects currently in construction. The projects are situated in Colorado, Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico.
At the end of the previous year, the division of Copenhagen-based European Energy announced its 10-GW goal and stated that it was initially aiming for 1 GW in Texas as well as additional projects in the Western US.
