The African Development Bank (AfDB) has launched a tender to seek consultants to conduct technical due diligence (TDD) for four solar-plus-storage projects in Mauritius. With a cumulative capacity of 100 MW, the future solar PV plants will contribute to the island nation’s 2025 renewable energy targets.
The request for expression of interest is launched by the ‘Energy Financial Solutions Division’ of the AfDB. The tender seeks technical advisors for the four solar energy projects that will be developed by independent power producers (IPP). Interested consulting firms or associations of firms are invited to submit their expression of interest along with their experience details by 19th May 2023.
The selected bidder will be responsible for conducting technical due diligence for these solar energy projects. This will include technical feasibility studies and conducting environmental and social impact assessments (ESIA). These services are scheduled to start by the month of June.
Renewable energy contributes comprises 18% of the Mauritian energy mix. The 100 MW solar PV plants with battery energy storage facilities will help Mauritius to achieve the target of generating 35% of the total electricity through renewable energy by 2025. These projects will help in reducing the country’s carbon footprint as well as contributing to the combat against climate change.
