- REEEA-A identified electric vehicles as a viable system for achieving renewable energy efficiency.
- The alliance would engage oil and gas companies to use clean technology for carbon capture.
The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Association Alliance has identified using electric vehicles as one of the ways Nigeria could achieve renewable energy efficiency. The association stated this during its one-day international energy conference in Abuja on accelerating private sector investment in renewable energy and energy efficiency.
REEEA-A organised the conference to address the issues of epileptic power supply in the country. The association unanimously identified the use of electric vehicles as key to achieving renewable energy efficiency.
Other suggestions reached during the conference were developing carbon market opportunities, funding projects with local currency and engaging the 36 states for integrated electricity within their states. Stressing the strategies for achieving clean energy, the President of REEEA-A, Magnus Onuoha, said, “Gas is 80 per cent clean, so we are going to use that within the context of Nigeria to drive our energy transition. The alliance will try the process; we will engage oil and gas companies and natural companies to take this. But they must have one thing, carbon capture sequestration technology driven with clean technology.”
