- Labour Union has thrown Abuja, Kaduna, Jos and some cities across the country into darkness, forcing electricity generation to drop to 2,000 megawatts as of last night.
- Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) blames the power Outage on strike action.
The Federal Capital Territory, Kaduna, Jos and its environment experienced a blackout on Tuesday as electricity workers shut down the power supply. This is factored into the Nigeria Labour Congress Two-day warning strike. Therefore, electricity generation dropped to 2000 megawatts as of last night. AEDC urges customers to take necessary precautions to manage the outage effectively and advises that sensitive electronic devices and appliances should be unplugged from power sources pending power restoration.
Kaduna Discos also issued a similar case, while sources at the Jos Discos told The Guardian that NLC disconnected some of their feeders. The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) spokesperson, Ndidid Mbah, confirmed the development, stating that while the grid was intact, the union disconnected some feeders.
The electricity distribution companies apologise for any inconvenience experienced as a result of the strike, as they continue their engagement with key stakeholders towards minimizing the strike’s impact on our customers.
Head of Corporate Communication at Kaduna Discos, Abdulazeez Abdullahi, said, “We hope the impasse between the federal government and the NLC shall be resolved soonest so that power supply can be restored”. .
