EDF Renewables North America has said it has inaugurated its Arrow Canyon solar-plus-storage complex in Nevada that will supply electricity to local utility NV Energy under a 20-year power off-take deal. Arrow Canyon solar-plus-storage complex is located within the Moapa Indian Reservation in Clark County.
The project comprises a 275-MW DC photovoltaic (PV) park with 621,000 bifacial modules. Also, the plant is coupled with 564 battery units, creating a 75MW energy storage facility with a discharge duration of five hours. The solar farm’s output is expected to be enough to cover the consumption of 57,600 average homes in Nevada annually.
Furthermore, EDF Renewables started construction activities on the project in September 2021. They completed the solar park segment at the end of 2022, while the battery storage unit was energised earlier in November. The company’s asset optimisation unit will handle the complex operation and maintenance (O&M). They will also provide NERC compliance support, remote monitoring and balance-of-plant management solutions.
