Lightsource Bp Sells 1,037MWp Solar Projects to Beijing Energy

UK-based global solar developer, Lightsource bp, has sold 1,037 MWp of solar projects in Australia to Beijing Energy International (BJEI) Australia in a deal valued at AUD 813 million (USD 545.6m/EUR 496.3m). Also, Lightsource bp said it will use all funds from the sale to speed up the development of its pipeline in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region and advance exciting projects in New Zealand, Taiwan, and South Korea. The company will continue working on its over 7.5 GW solar and battery storage portfolio in Australia and New Zealand.

The company said the deal with BJEI Australia covers five photovoltaic (PV) assets, three in operation and two under development. The list of five PV assets includes the 200 MWp Wellington, 425 MWp Wellington North and 107 MWp West Wyalong solar plants in New South Wales, the 210MWp Woolooga park in Queensland, and 90 MWp Wunghnu in Victoria. The 900 MWp and 425 MWp are under construction and will be operational in the second half of 2024. The five solar farms’ estimated total output is roughly 2,230 GWh.
