Plus Power LLC, based in Houston, secures $98 million (EUR 91 million) tax equity financing for a Texas Battery storage project. Greenprint Capital Management provides the funding. The Ebony Energy Storage project is near San Antonio in Comal County.
It comprises 176 Sungrow battery containers. Construction began in March 2023, with operations set to start this spring. The battery will support the ERCOT market during peak power demand in summer and winter.
It will stabilise the grid and integrate more renewable energy. Ebony is part of Plus Power’s broader initiative. This initiative includes five schemes benefiting from a USD 1.8 billion financing deal signed last November.
Plus Power plans four batteries totalling 800 MW/1,575 MWh in Texas by summer. This financing highlights the growing importance of battery storage. It enables the transition to a more sustainable energy future.
Plus, Power’s commitment to expanding renewable energy infrastructure is crucial. It shows the role of private investment in driving innovation in renewables.
