A milestone in renewable energy: Moray West Offshore Wind Farm installs the first of 60 Siemens Gamesa turbines. The project advances sustainable energy goals in outer Moray Firth within Scottish waters. The Ocean Winds partnership announces the erection of the SG 14-222 DD turbine. Belgian marine contractor DEME completed monopile installation work prior.

The project aims for an early next year’s operation, positioned 22 kilometres off the coast of the Moray Council. The combined output from 14.7-megawatt turbines is expected to power 1.3 million homes. The UK government’s Contract for Difference scheme and corporate PPAs support offshore ventures.

Notable partners, including Google LLC and Amazon Inc., back the project. Ocean Winds, a partnership between EDP Renovaveis SA and Engie SA, drives the initiative. Each turbine erection signifies progress towards a greener future.
