Sinoma International Engineering Company has expressed interest in establishing a renewable energy technology manufacturing industry in Nigeria’s Evergreen City. To discuss this potential partnership, the company’s Chairman, Yin Zhisong, hosted Nigeria’s Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action (SPEC), Ajuri Ngelale, for a dinner in Beijing.
Sinoma’s interest in Evergreen City reflects confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s green industrial vision for Nigeria. During his visit to Beijing, Ngelale highlighted the significance of this step towards localising the renewable energy technology value chain.
In May, Tinubu approved the Infrastructure Corporation of Nigeria (InfraCorp) as the developer of Evergreen City, Nigeria’s green industrial zone. This green industrial zone is part of Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring industrial development that meets present and future demands.
Sinoma, a leading subsidiary of the CNBM Group, manages $85 billion in assets, employs 200,000 people, holds 11,000 patents, and operates 26 R&D institutes. Their interest in Evergreen City strongly hones President Tinubu’s vision.
This initiative aligns with Nigeria’s efforts to localise the renewable energy value chain. In addition, the SPEC participated in a virtual discussion with the United States Department of Energy and the United States State Department on developing a circular economy and co-creating industrial clusters with consumer credit-tied financing packages.
Furthermore, this initiative aims to unlock Nigeria’s projected $1 trillion GDP inclusively, creating opportunities for all Nigerians.
