  • The backpack offers an eco-friendly alternative to expensive, carbon-emitting generators, particularly benefiting rural areas with limited electricity access.
  • RKK Group is pursuing ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 certifications to enhance its commitment to sustainable energy and safety practices.

RKK Group has unveiled a new renewable energy solution to enhance Nigerians’ and small businesses’ access to clean energy. The innovative iRESS Solar Backpack features a foldable solar panel, a lithium phosphate battery, and an inverter system. This portable device is designed to harness solar energy and provide reliable power for daily needs.

During a health and safety training workshop in Abuja, Aderemi Kilaso, the Group’s Chief Executive Officer, announced the iRESS Solar Backpack. Kilaso highlighted that the backpack aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoting clean energy and sustainable economic growth.

“We are committed to making the world a better place through clean energy access and community empowerment,” Kilaso stated. He noted that the backpack addresses Nigeria’s power challenges, especially in rural areas with limited or no electricity.

“Without power, people are cut off from the world. Our solution utilises Nigeria’s abundant sunlight, storing it for portable use,” Kilaso explained. With rising energy costs and small businesses suffering from expensive, carbon-emitting generators, the iRESS Solar Backpack offers an affordable, eco-friendly alternative.

“Power is often unavailable or costly. Generators are not sustainable due to their environmental impact and high fuel costs, which hurt small businesses,” Kilaso said.

On September 3, 2024, RKK Group achieved a significant milestone by advancing towards Integrated Management System (IMS) certifications. The group is pursuing ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 certifications. These certifications will enhance the group’s commitment to sustainable and reliable energy access, aligning with UN SDGs 7 and 8, which focus on affordable energy and decent work.

Kilaso stressed the importance of safety in RKK Group’s operations. “Safety is a core value in our construction, renewable energy, and electrical sectors. ISO certification will ensure our processes meet international best practices,” he said.

Oyinlola Okanlawon, Registrar of the QHSES Leadership Academy, praised RKK Group for its support. “Under Kilaso’s leadership, the team has been key to our programs, including Safetainability4orphanage,” she noted. This initiative provides physical and emotional support to orphaned children, helping them rebuild their lives and secure brighter futures.
