ACF AND NASIDA Launch Nigeria’s First State-Level Climate Investment Platform

In a move towards climate-aligned investments, the Nasarawa State Investment and Development Agency (NASIDA) has partnered with the African Climate Foundation (ACF) to launch Nigeria’s first state-level Climate Investment and Development Platform. This initiative marks a significant step in driving subnational efforts to address climate change and promote sustainable development in Nigeria.

During a recent visit, Ibrahim A. Abdullahi, CEO of NASIDA, and representatives from ACF engaged in insightful discussions on how subnational efforts can spearhead climate-aligned investments. This partnership aims to leverage the strengths of both organisations to foster a robust framework for climate action at the state level.

The collaboration with ACF will enable NASIDA to tap into expertise and resources, ensuring that climate initiatives are effective and sustainable. This collaboration is poised to set a new standard for climate investment and development in Nigeria, paving the way for a greener, more sustainable future. “Thank you, Zira John Quaghe, for the visit and insightful conversation. Excited about our collaboration to build the Nasarawa State Climate Investment Platform to mobilise investments that support our transition to cleaner energy,” Ibrahim stated in a post on LinkedIn.

This platform will attract significant investments, create job opportunities, and enhance the quality of life for the residents of Nasarawa State. By focusing on sustainable practices, the initiative aims to serve as a model for other states in Nigeria, demonstrating the potential of subnational efforts in combating climate change.

Note that the African Climate Foundation (ACF) is the continent’s first African-led strategic climate change grant-making foundation. Established to provide a mechanism through which philanthropies can contribute to Africa’s efforts to address climate change, ACF is dedicated to unlocking and supporting development opportunities in climate action across Africa. The foundation achieves this through grant-making, research, technical assistance, coalition building, and targeted advocacy.
