  • Axpo wins 163 MW in French tenders, boosting its role in Europe’s energy transition.
  • Urbasolar secures 124 MWp of solar capacity across nine regions, raising its total to over 1.7 GW from CRE tenders.
  • Volkswind obtains 39 MW for four wind farms, supporting local renewable energy and diversifying France’s energy mix.

Swiss energy company Axpo won 163 MW of renewable energy capacity in two tenders held by the French Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE). This success strengthens the company’s role in Europe’s energy transition.

Axpo’s solar subsidiary, Urbasolar, secured 124 MWp, placing second in the solar tender. These projects spread across nine French regions, include ground-mounted, agricultural, and floating solar installations. This achievement brings Urbasolar’s total awarded capacity in CRE tenders to over 1.7 GW over the past decade. Urbasolar’s Managing Director, Antoine Millioud, stated, “This result reflects our experience and expertise, enabling us to support the energy transition with cutting-edge projects.”

Volkswind, Axpo’s wind subsidiary, secured 39 MW for four wind farm projects. These wind farms aim to increase local renewable energy supply and support France’s clean energy goals. Volkswind CEO Katja Stommel emphasised, “These achievements reinforce Axpo’s commitment to innovative solutions and community development.”

Urbasolar’s projects address various needs, from agricultural integration to floating photovoltaics, enabling the company to sustain growth in the competitive renewable energy market. Volkswind’s wind farms target areas with strong wind potential, helping diversify energy sources and cut reliance on fossil fuels.

Axpo France, based in Lyon, manages portfolio activities and electricity and gas supply, building solid relationships with local producers and traders. These partnerships allow Axpo to develop tailored solutions for integrating renewable energy into France’s grid.

With these new contracts, Axpo strengthens its position as a key player in Europe’s energy transition and responds to the growing demand for clean energy sources.
