Absolicon Solar Concentrator will install a solar collector production unit in Egypt. The Härnösand, the Sweden-based company, will install the production line for the Swiss company Creative Power Solutions (CPS). At €3.7 million, CPS ordered the unit with €2.7 million in funding from Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW), the German development agency.
The company will manufacture Absolicon T160 sensors per a framework agreement signed in January 2022 and designates CPS as Absolicon’s sole partner in Egypt.
With a project including 14,000 m2 of collectors, CPS intends to begin production of its solar collectors in 2024. It is comparable to a 7 MW power plant. Even if the government is putting up a 600 MWe project, Egypt hasn’t much enthusiasm for large-scale thermodynamic solar energy production. However, this method, which concentrates sunlight to generate heat, has excellent industrial potential, and CPS wants to take advantage of it.
As Egypt grows more industrialized, firms that utilize heat in their industrial processes are erected in the Suez Canal Economic Zone and other national regions. A further estimate by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) places the global market for large-scale solar heating at €800 billion in investment potential by 2050.
