Abunasty Nigeria Diversifies Beyond Oil into Clean Power

  • Abunasty Nigeria Limited marked its 10th anniversary by announcing expansion into real estate and renewable energy, including LNG and solar.
  • Chairman Alhaji Abubakar Nasir Tsanyawa highlighted the firm’s job creation, CSR initiatives, and plans to major in oil, real estate, and clean energy by 2035.

Abunasty Nigeria Limited, an indigenous oil and gas company, has entered the real estate sector and plans to invest in renewable energy as part of a broader diversification strategy.

At a dinner in Kano to mark the company’s 10th anniversary, Chairman Alhaji Abubakar Nasir Tsanyawa said the firm is widening its capital investment base to tap into emerging opportunities across multiple sectors.

“With the emerging reality in the global market, the company has made inroads in real estate, while deploying strength on liquefied natural gas (LNG) and other renewable clean energy to support a greener environment,” Tsanyawa said. “Oil may not remain as dominant in the next decade, so we are also looking at solar and other green energy solutions.”

Tsanyawa said the strategy reflects shifts in global energy demand and aims to secure long-term competitiveness and profitability. He added that beyond generating profits, Abunasty Nigeria has created over 100 jobs and supported economic growth through various corporate social responsibility projects.

Founded as a transport business, Abunasty became an independent petroleum marketer with multiple filling stations and a distribution fleet. Over the past decade, the company has expanded into import and export, real estate, and special-purpose machinery.

Tsanyawa noted that policy changes, including the launch of operations at the Dangote Refinery, have reshaped competition in the oil sector. “Some policies favour us, others don’t, but by God’s grace, we overcome the challenges and move forward,” he said.

He expressed confidence that Abunasty Nigeria would be a leading player in oil and gas, real estate, and renewable energy by 2035.

The anniversary celebration featured long-service awards for senior staff and excellence awards for selected department heads in recognition of their contribution to the company’s growth.
