On Tuesday, Big 4sure events based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) organised the exhibition in Accra under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy at the Accra International Conference Centre. The exhibition, which sought to allow stakeholders to connect with potential business partners to boost the power sector in the country, had over 60 businesses in the power, energy, electrical and engineering sectors in attendance.
The Deputy Minister of Energy, Mr William Owuraku Aidoo, at the exhibition, said that significant progress through electricity generation and access had been made in the energy sector, resulting in high economic growth, highlighting that irrespective of the progress made, commercial and technical losses are the key challenges of power distribution in the country. He further noted that the government is committed to introducing innovative technologies to tackle the losses and urged the exhibitors and visitors to establish sustainable partnerships to ensure massive development in Ghana’s energy sector.
In his remarks, the president of the Ghana Union of Traders Association, Dr Joseph Obeng, commended the organisers for providing Ghanaian businessmen with the opportunity to collaborate with companies in the energy sector, “Africa is the green area for trade. Take advantage of the Afri-can Continental Free Trade Area by manufacturing with us and establishing factories in Ghana. This will provide about 1 trillion dollars in profit”.
