- ACWA Power Co. puts together a proposal for 500MW in Uzbekistan.
- The ongoing conflict in Ukraine had an impact on three wind projects in Uzbekistan.
ACWA Power has announced proposals for a 500MW solar project in Uzbekistan. This was disclosed by the chief executive officer, Paddy Padmanathan.
According to him, “following a slow start to the year by unexpected global geopolitical and economic disturbances, I am glad to see an acceleration in the bidding space.”
The names of the 11 pre-qualified bidders who were qualified to move on to the Request for Proposal (RFP) stage of the 500 MW solar tender were made public by the Ministry of Energy and National Grid of Uzbekistan JSC last month. One of the names on the shortlist was ACWA Power. By October 10, 2022, submissions for the RFP will be accepted.
The financial report for ACWA Power also notes that the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the high-cost environment, and supply chain constraints have had an impact on three wind projects in Uzbekistan: Bash (500 MW), Dzhankeldy (500 MW), and Nukus (100 MW), as well as a 240 MW wind project in Azerbaijan. On that subject, no more information was provided.
