The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has intensified efforts against energy theft through increased vigilance and night raids to identify and address illegal connections to ensure fair billing and reduce system losses, Acting Managing Director Mr Victor Ojelabi announced in Abuja.
Ojelabi highlighted AEDC’s prioritization of clearing outstanding bills to optimize service delivery and operational efficiency, emphasizing the importance of maintaining uninterrupted electricity supply across households and businesses within their service areas.
AEDC has introduced new initiatives to enhance operational capabilities, promising significant improvements in service delivery under new leadership focused on operational excellence and customer satisfaction. Initiatives include the Token Identifier Rollover (TID) for accurate billing and enhancing meter software security. A global termination is set for November 30, and a complete customer rollover target is by July 31, 2024.

As part of the Federal Government’s Mass Metering initiative, AEDC facilitates meter distribution to unmetered customers, encouraging applications through streamlined processes to ensure accurate billing. Operationalized vending platforms allow customers to purchase electricity tokens conveniently, enhancing customer experience and satisfaction.
To improve internal efficiency, AEDC digitalises internal processes with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to enhance employee turnaround time and operational efficiency.
