- AEDC elevates twenty-six feeders to Band A status effective August 1, enhancing electricity supply in critical areas like Asokoro, Garki, and Lokoja.
- The upgrade aligns with AEDC’s commitment to improving service reliability and efficiency amidst regulatory tariff adjustments affecting 15% of consumers earlier this year.
Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has significantly improved electricity services in critical areas of its operation by upgrading twenty-six feeders to Band A status effective August 1. This upgrade, aimed at enhancing electricity supply reliability and efficiency, spans diverse locations, including Asokoro, Garki, Central Area, Jabi, Maikunkele, Lokoja, Lugbe/Kuje, Adogo, Agaie, Gwagwalada, and Kukwaba.
In a recent statement, AEDC emphasized that the tariff adjustment is part of its ongoing commitment to improving service delivery and customer satisfaction. The affected areas, which also encompass Deidei, Keffi, Apo/Asokoro, Akwanga, Suleja, Minna, LifeCamp, Okene, and Wuse, represent a broad geographical spectrum, ensuring a widespread impact of the improvement initiative.
Earlier this year, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) mandated an upward revision of electricity tariffs, affecting only 15% of consumers. Despite initial public criticism and calls for a policy reversal, AEDC’s proactive approach in upgrading these feeders underscores its dedication to strengthening electricity infrastructure and enhancing service reliability across its operational areas.
The upgrade to Band A tariff status is anticipated to play a pivotal role in improving the stability and efficiency of electricity distribution services provided by AEDC. This initiative aligns with broader efforts to meet the increasing energy demands of the company’s communities, fostering sustainable development and economic growth.
By bolstering electricity infrastructure and optimizing service delivery through these feeder upgrades, AEDC aims to mitigate power supply challenges and ensure consistent access to reliable electricity, positively impacting its customers’ lives and businesses. The move also reflects AEDC’s proactive stance in complying with regulatory mandates while striving to exceed customer expectations in service provision.
