AFD, EU Pledge $46 Million For Skill Enhancement in the Power Sector

The Agence Française de Development (AFD) and the European Union have pledged $46 million to the National Power Training Institute (NAPTIN) to fund vocational skills in the power sector, according to NAPTIN. Mr Ahmed Nagode, the Director-General of NAPTIN, revealed this at a workshop in Abuja on “Enhancing Vocational Training Delivery for the Nigerian Power Sector.”

Nagode, who was represented by Mr Kunle Oyenusi, Director, Legal NAPTIN, who is also the project’s Head Implementation Unit (PIU), revealed that a $46 million financing plan funded by AFD and the European Union (EU) would be solely invested in NAPTIN for the enhancement of vocational skills training in the Nigerian power sector. He claims that product Development, Infrastructure Development, and Corporate Development are the three primary components of the initiative.

According to Nagode, NAPTIN will be repositioned as a centre of excellence to assist the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) and the West African Power Pool (WAPP) after the project is completed.
