Airbus and Flynas Seal 90-Aircraft Deal at Farnborough

On the fourth day of the Farnborough International Airshow (FIA), Airbus announced a significant deal with Flynas, Saudi Arabia’s top low-cost carrier. The agreement includes 75 A320neo family aircraft and 15 A330-900s, totalling 90 planes, the most important order of the week.

The new aircraft will enhance Flynas’ all-Airbus fleet, boosting its international, domestic, and regional services. The A330-900s, configured for up to 400 passengers in two classes, will support Flynas’ operations.

Airbus Chief Executive Officer, Commercial Aircraft Christian Scherer expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership. “We are excited to expand our relationship with Flynas. This is a significant milestone for both the A320neo and A330-900 aircraft. The A330neo will enable Flynas to grow in widebody markets by leveraging the A320. These aircraft offer Flynas the perfect mix of versatility and economics to enter new markets while providing passengers with the latest cabin experience and comfort.”

Flynas CEO and Managing Director Bander Almohanna highlighted the fleet’s benefits. “The A320neo Family offers exceptional performance and environmental advantages, allowing us to provide unique, low-cost travel experiences. The A330-900, with its increased capacity and range, helps Flynas stay competitive in the growing regional market.”

The signing ceremony featured notable attendees, including HE Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) of Saudi Arabia; Ayed Al Jeaid, Chairman of the Board of NAS Holding; Bandar Almohanna, Flynas CEO and Managing Director; and Christian Scherer, Airbus CEO, Commercial Aircraft.

Airbus continues to innovate with its A330 family, designed to operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and aiming for 100% SAF capability by 2030. This deal underscores Airbus’s commitment to sustainability and efficiency in aviation.
