Akuo Energy, Others Sign RE Agreement in the Dominican Republic

  • MEM, Akuo Energy, CNE sign agreement for renewable energy development in the Dominican Republic.
  • The facility to be deployed will have a capacity of 53MW.

Akuo Energy, the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) and the National Energy Commission (CNE) have signed an agreement to construct a solar power park in the Dominican Republic.

The agreement was signed between the Deputy Minister of Savings and Energy Efficiency of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, Alfonso Rodríguez; the president of the Dominican National Brewery, Fabián Suárez; the executive vice president of the Dominican National Brewery, Luis Álvarez and the investment manager in the Dominican Republic of Akuo Energy, Ophélie Lainé.

The solar energy park in the province of María Trinidad Sánchez will have a capacity of 53MW and will reduce CO2 emissions by over 50,000 tons per year. At the same time, 550 direct jobs and more than 2,000 indirect jobs will be generated to revitalise the country’s economy.

Through this agreement, Cervecería Nacional Dominicana undertook to buy the energy that the solar park will produce, guaranteeing the project’s viability.
