- AlphaTain Group and students created 3,000 solar lanterns, setting a new Guinness World Record.
- The lanterns will provide sustainable light to a Filipino village, replacing toxic kerosene lamps.
- The project engaged students in socially responsible actions, inspiring future change.
AlphaTain Group named the Strategic Mobility Partner at COP28, spearheaded an initiative to provide light to communities without electricity. Partnering with the AlphaTain Education Foundation, Sidera International School and Universal American School students created 3,000 solar lanterns to donate to Agusan Marsh, a remote village in the Philippines.
This initiative highlights the importance of renewable energy and saw enthusiastic participation from young students. “When I first started, I didn’t want to do it. It was hard and complex,” a student involved in the project shared. “But as I continued, I began to enjoy it. This project taught me and my peers how to create light and help people, motivating us to be socially responsible as we grow older.”
The visually stunning display of the solar lanterns set a new Guinness World Record. The record, previously set with 2,000 lightbulbs, was increased to 3,000 lanterns staying lit for five minutes. “It’s a record for a cause, which we love at Guinness World Records,” a representative from Guinness commented.
The solar lanterns will provide a safer, sustainable light source for the residents of Agusan Marsh, who currently rely on toxic and hazardous kerosene lamps. This small but impactful gesture aims to improve the living conditions and educational opportunities for children in the village.
AlphaTain Group’s CEO emphasised the significance of this project: “This initiative is about young, enthusiastic changemakers providing light to other kids. It will enable them to study better and avoid the dangers of kerosene lamps. A small action can make a big difference in the lives of many.”
The event marked a record-breaking achievement and underscored the importance of sustainability and community support. The solar lanterns promise to illuminate a brighter future for Agusan Marsh, demonstrating that collective efforts can lead to significant change.
