- The German firm has raised €195 million in a Series D funding round over the last year.
Amazon’s $2 billion Climate Pledge Fund has made an undisclosed investment in German industrial electrolyzer manufacturer Sunfire GmbH. Sunfire has become the first EU-based green hydrogen company to receive an investment from Amazon, according to CEO Nils Aldag.
As previously announced, Amazon’s Climate Pledge Fund also participated in a $198 million funding round at Electric Hydrogen (EH2), though the latter is based in the United States.
Sunfire stated that Amazon’s support would aid it in its ongoing efforts to expand production capacity from megawatt to gigawatt scale. The German firm has raised €195 million in a Series D funding round over the last year and is currently expecting grant funding under the Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) program.
