The Africa Mini-grids Development Association (AMDA) and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) recently signed a partnership to accelerate the deployment of green mini-grids in Africa. The objective of this partnership is to facilitate the installation of decentralised systems to increase rural electrification in Africa.
Both organisations are committed to working to improve the quality of data collection and dissemination on the mini-grid sector within COMESA member countries. According to AMDA, the collaboration will improve the availability of financial instruments to increase the sustainability of the sector and support programs that create synergies with the agriculture, health and education sectors.
