AMEA Power Receives $100m Grant to Deploy Solar Facility in Tunisia

  • Tunisian Government awards AMEA Power a solar power development contract.
  • The project will have a cumulative capacity of 100MW.

AMEA Power has entered into a concession and power purchase agreement with the government of Tunisia to develop a 100MW solar project worth $100m in Kairouan. Construction is expected to commence in the last quarter of 2022.

The project has a planned production of nearly 223,171MWh of power per year, saving more than 113,525 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. Hussain Al Nowais, chairman of AMEA Power, noted, “This is a great milestone for both Tunisia and AMEA Power. Through the government’s 2030 New Energy Vision, Tunisia aims to increase the share of renewables in its energy mix to 30 per cent by 2030, corresponding to an additional installed capacity of approximately 4GW.

“AMEA Power continues to grow, and today we are proud to be present in 15 countries, with a total capacity of about 2,000MW of renewable energy projects in operation, under construction and in development,” he added.
