Ameresco Inc., a US energy efficiency and renewable energy company, and EPC provider Sunel Group have decided to submit a joint bid for 1.5 GWp of solar and energy storage projects in Romania, Greece, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
The two partners have established a joint company called Ameresco Energy Hellas S.A. for this purpose, and it has already been given the contract to construct the 100-MWp Delfini solar photovoltaic (PV) facility in Greece. The new projects’ contracts are worth more than $500 million, according to estimates.
Ameresco and Sunel aim to create solutions that add value to project investors by combining their expertise in engineering, procurement, construction, operation, and maintenance of large-scale solar and battery energy storage projects.
Ameresco’s chief executive George Sakellaris commented: “As we continue to accelerate our European growth strategy, these projects are a testament to our capabilities in delivering large scale renewable energy projects.”
The US company in February unveiled the acquisition of Italian peer Enerqos Energy Solutions S.r.l. in a deal meant to expand its presence in Europe.
