Amp Energy, a Toronto-based international renewables platform has begun to make plans towards building a renewable energy hub in South Australia. The company is to invest over $1.55 billion in the project.
The project is to include a hydrogen production facility, over 1 GW of solar generation, alongside wind generation. It is expected that the hydrogen production facility will export hydrogen from the Spencer Gulf to Asia.
Stephen Patterson, the state’s minister for trade and investment has said that South Australia intends to achieve 100% renewable energy generation by the end of the decade. Amp Energy already has projects in Australia with 158 MW of solar assets in operation or under construction.
