An Unexpected Victory

Over the weekend, the finals of the long-awaited football tournament (UEFA Champions League) were played between two top clubs – Chelsea and Manchester City.  This game saw an unexpected victory.

UEFA Champions League is a yearly club football competition organised by the Union of European Football Association and contested by top-division European clubs. It is one of the most reputable soccer tournaments globally and the most pronounced club competition in European football.

The soccer tournament consists of thirty-two teams that contend in five rounds for the right to be crowned the elite club in European soccer. Usually, a series of competitive and challenging stages from Qualification to Group-Stage draw to Round of Sixteen, Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, and the Finals.

The qualifiers for the finals were Chelsea and Manchester City. There were lots of speculations before the games on Saturday. While some Chelsea fans had high hopes of victory for their club, some others were not expecting a victory but were already at peace with the fact that they made it to the finals given their previous predicament.

Several predictions and speculations were made about the proposed outcome of the game, with some fans of other clubs sympathising with Chelsea fans ahead of the game because, for the past decade, the club has not been able to get anywhere close to the top. However, to their greatest surprise, Kia Harvertz, a Chelsea player, scored a goal that bore their unexpected victory of becoming the 2021 UEFA Champions.

Looking at the rigorous stages of the game explains that there are always tough stages to success. The myriad of challenges encountered by the Nigerian Electricity Sector is not new. Some persons were not able to watch the game due to the absence of electric power.

Just as Chelsea club saw an unexpected victory, would there be a similar occasion ahead of the Nigerian Electricity sector’s challenges?
