Apple Records Success Over Renewable Energy Use

  • Apple suppliers double their green energy use.
  • About 13.9 million metric tonnes of  CO2 emissions have been prevented.

Technology company Apple has announced that its suppliers have doubled their green energy use over the past year. The company noted that the renewable energy projects they support averted 13.9 million metric tons of carbon dioxide pollution. The company stated that it has a similar impact as taking 3 million cars off the road for a year.

Apple had, in 2020, pledged to reduce greenhouse emissions by 75 per cent and become carbon neutral by 2030 as part of its effort to curb climate change. In achieving its target, Apple has gone a step farther by pledging to slash emissions from its supply chains and its customers’ use of the products. According to a report from The Verge, This move by Apple is by far the biggest lift for the company since those indirect emissions make up most of its carbon footprint.
