- 378 MW wind project purchased in the Brazilian state
Atlas Renewable Energy, a Latin America-focused company, has purchased a 378 MW wind project in Minas Gerias, a state of Brazil. This was revealed on Monday by Luis Pita, the general manager of the company. The project is the first for the company in Brazil and was developed by French renewable power plants operator Voltalia SA. The value of the acquisition was, however, not revealed.
The project has been named Juramento, and the power output from the project is yet to be sold. Atlas has a strategy of pursuing long-term agreements with chemical companies Dow Inc, Unipar Carbocloro SA and Anglo American Plc, a mining giant.
Pita had already told Reuters that the firm expects to close an energy sales contract in a short time from now.
Currently, Atlas owns more than 3 GW of solar capacity that is either operational or under construction in Chile, Uruguay, Mexico and Brazil.
