- Audi plans to roll out a new EV model in South Africa.
- the company is planning on rolling out 800,000 e-tron models across the globe by 2025
German car manufacturer Audi is set to market a new range of electric vehicles, the “e-tron”, in South Africa. Audi plans to offer several new models, including the e-tron 55 Sportback and the RS e-tron GT. Audi has been able to increase its electric car delivery sales by 58 per cent in 2021. The company has committed to developing new e-tron models annually for the South African market.
In a company statement, Audi notes “by accelerating our transition to e-mobility, we fully embrace Audi’s global mission to transform into a premium sustainable mobility provider, in line with our brand’s global commitments to the Paris Climate Agreement.” The company plans to roll out 800,000 electric cars globally, especially in Africa, by 2025. However, the German automobile company will have to contend with the Asian brands also entering the South African market. Japan’s Nissan and Chinese Eleksa EV, are among the companies that have released recent electric models in the country.
