Australian Firm Plans Mega Energy Projects for Green Hydrogen Production

  • Plans to install up to 235 MW of wind and solar power capacity.
  • Plans to produce between 23 and 42 tonnes of green hydrogen every day.

An Australian clean energy company, Infinite Green Energy which was formerly called Infinite Blue Energy, has revealed its plans to install up to 235 MW of wind and solar power capacity for the production of green hydrogen in the western region of Australia.

The company has already made the submission of its proposal to the state’s Environmental Protection Authority, and the proposal will become open for comments by June 27, 2022.

Infinite Green, under the Arrowsmith Scheme, is planning on constructing a solar photovoltaic plant of between 65 MW and 85 MW alongside a wind farm with about 25 turbines, each having a capacity of 6 MW. The power generated from the clean energy facilities will be suede for powering a green hydrogen facility with a capacity of producing between 23 and 42 tonnes of green hydrogen every day. There are also, embedded in the projects, plans for installing 20 MW of battery storage capacity.

The complex is projected to be located on a 1930-hectare property the south of Dongarra, formerly used for animal grazing.

The company plans to transport the hydrogen to end-users in a compressed liquid form through hydrogen-fuelled road tankers. Construction works for the project are slated to begin in the first quarter of 2023, and production is to begin in the third quarter of 2025.

Infinite Green renamed itself last month in a bid to reflect its strategy of producing only green hydrogen.
