Austria’s UniCredit Bank Commits Funding for Tanzania Solar Project

 The Austrian government, through UniCredit Bank Austria, has pledged financial support to Tanzania for implementing solar energy projects across the country.

Engineer Hannes Merl, Chief Executive Officer of Merl Solar Technologies GmbH, made the pledge during a meeting with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Engineer Felchesmi Mramba, on the sidelines of the 69th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which is currently taking place in Vienna.

During their discussions, Engineer Mramba expressed his gratitude to Merl Solar Technologies GmbH for showing interest in partnering with the Government of Tanzania to promote the use of renewable energy, particularly solar energy. He also invited the company to visit Tanzania to assess existing projects and initiate preliminary discussions on project implementation.

Merl Solar Technologies GmbH is an Austrian company established in 1928. The company has extensive experience in electronic engineering, including analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of various devices using a combination of electronic and bio-electronic circuit technologies.

Furthermore, the company specialises in the development and implementation of alternative and renewable energy systems such as photovoltaic (solar) energy, biomass-to-energy, and waste-to-energy technologies. These initiatives aim to promote access to clean, affordable, and sustainable energy.

This initiative aligns with the Tanzanian government’s broader efforts to ensure reliable and environmentally friendly energy access, particularly in rural areas.
