Avangrid has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Meta to supply the social media platform with renewable energy from a 240MW solar project in Texas. True North, under development in Falls County, is Avangrid’s first solar facility. It will reach commercial operations in early 2025.

Since 2020, Meta’s global operations have been supported by 100% renewable energy. The True North project will support Meta’s upcoming data centre in neighbouring Temple, its second data centre in Texas. True North will create over 200 local jobs during its construction and operation. It is expected to pay over $40m in property taxes over 25 years in this state, where the company already operates more than 1250MW of wind capacity.
