Solar Home Systems solutions provider, Bboxx has launched its services in Nigeria. The company has set its sights on providing electricity to 20 million people over the next decade. Nigeria currently has an electricity access rate of only 60 per cent, which falls to 34 per cent in rural communities.
The UK company has opened a store in Ijebu Ode, a City in Nigerian’s southwest state of Ogun. The company plans to electrify rural communities, especially in Lagos, Oyo, Ondo, Osun and Ekiti state. In addition, the company plans to provide clean energy solutions to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that contribute 48 per cent of GDP.
