The Gah Baka community in the Republic of Benin has been electrified. The commissioning event saw the presence of delegates from the Ministry of Energy, Beninese Rural Electrification and Energy Management Agency (ABERME) as well as members of the community.
Speaking at the event, the Director-General ABERME, Mr. Jean-Francis E. Tchekpo commended the Beninese government for its efforts in providing electricity access to communities in the country. He also pleaded with the residents to ensure the protection of electrical equipment from vandals.
Mr. Tchekpo also offered the members of the community a discount on connection fees. He added that the payment can be made in three installments to ease the financial burden on the community. He assured the attendees at the event of the ABERME commitment to improving access to electricity. “ABERME is working to tackle the issue of rapid access of rural populations to electric energy” he said.
