- Bloom Energy Inc. and Shell plc partner to explore green hydrogen partnerships.
- The partnership aims to develop large-scale solid oxide electrolyser (SOEC) systems.
Renewable energy leader Bloom Energy Inc and global energy giant Shell plc have joined forces to explore green hydrogen partnerships at Shell’s sites. The partnership aims to develop large-scale solid oxide electrolyser (SOEC) systems, utilising Bloom’s SOEC technology.
Bloom Energy claims the largest operational electrolyser manufacturing capacity globally, with facilities in California and Delaware. An independent analysis validates Bloom’s stature in the electrolysis technology landscape.
Bloom Energy achieved a significant milestone by demonstrating the world’s largest SOEC electrolyser, boasting a 4-megawatt (MW) capacity. Installed at NASA’s Ames Research Center, the system began hydrogen production last May.
It can produce 2.4 metric tonnes of hydrogen daily, signalling its potential for large-scale deployment. Partnerships like this drive innovation and accelerate the adoption of sustainable energy technologies.
The collaboration between Bloom Energy and Shell plc underscores their commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable future.
